Edith Piaf is one of France's biggest international star. She was first the darling of Paris, but her music soon spread around the world and she became one of the earliest French popular singers to conquer America. Her melancholy music has become an indelible part of the soundtrack for a post-war generation. Her music was often auto-biographical with her singing often reflecting her life, with her specialty being of chanson and ballads, particularly of love, loss and sorrow. Among her songs, "Non, je ne regrette rien", "Hymne à l'amour", "l'Accordéoniste" and "La vie en rose".
